WHY?

Firstly, let me say this is not a party political site - and it is not extreme left or right. Written by someone with similar priorities to your own. What you will find here is just pure LOGICAL common sense. That is common sense without any Government SPIN. They call them 'Special Advisors', these SPIN DOCTORS cost us millions of pounds. Spin is another word for MISDIRECTION or DECEPTION - basically LIES. You are paying Government all this money, to get someone to LIE to you.

e.g. Petrol tax is wrongly reported at 75 percent. It is a LIE - to physiologically trick you into thinking the tax is not as high as it actually is.

For any tax on expenditure, the tax can ONLY be added on. Example, VAT at 17.5 percent.
They are showing it as tax on income, were tax is taken away, as proportion of amount.

So 25p is the cost of petrol and 75p is the tax. The amount of tax is three times the cost.

So, the petrol tax is actually 300 percent.

Labour said petrol tax was to help the environment: My reply - Environmental policy based on a person’s ability to pay, is no policy at all. The same as is a health policy based on a persons ability to pay.

The Government only ever give straight answers to the wrong questions.

And you believe them about the RIP Bill? Don't be such a fool. Why would they need all that money on infrastructure to monitor a few thousand lines of suspect criminals? It is a con, to pay for high level of equipment, enough to keep an eye on everyone. It is the same as in Russia, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree in January, allowing all major Russian security and police agencies to monitor e-traffic going through providers.

The £628,000,000 grant of our money, works out for the 4,750,000 people attending, at £132 each. They could have been given a FREE day out at a half dozen other UK attractions. Add the £20 admission is £152, they could have gone on a cheap package holiday abroad.

Your relationship with Government

When our Government goes against the peoples wishes there is not a lot that can be done. Unless our society comes together. On our own, we count for not a lot. Government do not like dissension. Even peaceful demonstrations like 'Free Tibet' are illegally broken up - on the wishes of Government. This is your chance to have a say on important matters and to find out what everybody else thinks. This is the first attempt, the questions will get better. Please be objective. Even on Devolution, Tony wants control over everything. They do not listen.
The Government should put its people first. It does not take your health or safety seriously. It does not respect your privacy.
Hospitals should have FULL and proper recording of ALL statistics (remember Bristol).
For transport we should have a Vehicle Inspectorate that can order a recall of dangerous cars.
Paddington crash - nothing is being done - just talk.

At Sellafield, government should take legal action against BNFL managers for their lax and dangerous safety procedures. They plan to lock you up for speeding, is not what BNFL have done more dangerous?
The top banks could be forced to share collective responsibility for non profit making towns, to keep them open. Post Offices are easy targets for robbers, making it dangerous for staff.
On the environment, we have an agency that is impotent.. - the list goes on.

They listen to polls of 2,000 people, imagine one of 20,000 - 200,000 or MORE. They would have to take you seriously. It will almost make the UK a democracy. It will mean giving just 2 minutes a week to register YOUR views. Let us make them accountable. This will allow your voice to be heard for OUR Country, on any issues suggested by you, that matter to us ALL. 1UK.org will be an organization whose purpose will be to bring together the wishes and opinions of YOU the people to the regime of Tony Blair. To tell the government what they are doing wrong (or right). It is clear from their actions that they either have no idea or, most likely, are ignoring us. Blair does not even recognise North / South divide. Yet even with their own quoted figures he cannot deny in North; unemployment is higher, income is lower and health is worse. London Labour are not allowed to pick their own mayoral candidate. Blair not only has done the dirty on Ken, but also on Frank - putting him in that position. He fixed the Welsh result and it has proved a disaster. He has taken this election win as a mandate to give us all any old rubbish for 5 years. YOU will never get to keep a job for that long come what may. If you are bad at it - you would be thrown out the door. This will be your chance to give them a running kick up the backside, if they get it wrong.

On RipOff Britain - "When prices are compared like-for-like in the majority of cases, the UK customer is not paying more than in other countries," Trade and Industry Secretary Stephen Byers said. They are lying, trying to promote confidence in the high street. So the consumer is not so reticent in spending money - to bring big business profits up. Holiday makers to the UK were on TV news broadcasts, saying we are ripped off in this country. I suppose you know we have the highest tax on petrol in the western world. This is their answer for saving the environment - put the poorest people out of cars onto public transport. We are now paying a higher percentage of our income as taxes - more than ever. More than Europe.

UK Government have blackmailed the telecoms industry, who had to fight over JUST 5 licences needed to go into 3G next generation communications. Blackmail - because they cannot afford to lose. The ransom paid was 22.5 billion pounds (approx. $35,500,000,000). Guess who will end up paying this money? Yes - you, with a healthy profit attached (and tax). The auction was designed for Government by Professor Ken Binmore, a professor in economics at University College London, to extract as much as possible out of you. If they were looking after your interests, they should have chose who had most to offer consumer (beauty contest). It is NOT a windfall, as some idiots suggest - it is billions extra that YOU will be paying (a hidden tax). Sir Peter Bonfield, CEO of BT, when asked if it will be passed on, guaranteed it will be factored in. On subject of BT - for what we pay them standing charge - Canada and America get free local calls. When the faster speed Internet arrives, compare the speed/prices with USA.

Government are spending less of our money on health than Europe. Before we have to pay more taxes for our NHS, I would like to know what are they wasting it all on. Front page news on Daily Mail 20 March, reports 160,000 people in 1999 forced to pay for vital operations rather than get worse by waiting. Page 4 of same issue, says in the British Medical Journal that hospital mistakes kill 30,000 a year. It states at least 3 in every 100 are injured by mishap - I am one of this number. Proving the Government are also ripping us off also, perhaps why they are denying that we are ripped off. They cannot dispute the prices you see elsewhere, it is another fact that they are lying about. All information they give us is with SPIN (LIES). Which is why they spend much more money on spin doctors than previous government. Absolutely any numbers they quote on health spending, unemployment etc. are always deliberately miscalculated. We need to have a better voice.

The Lord Bassam of Brighton has made the following statement under section 19(1)(a) of the Human Rights Act 1998:

In my view the provisions of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Bill are compatible with the Convention rights.

IMPORTANT NOTE - He says "IN MY VIEW". He is out of touch with the technology or based his belief on what people have told him. Either way, he is WRONG. Indeed why are Government passing this Bill, when none - like Bassam, *clearly do not know* what is possible with the system or the consequences? Ask any to explain - they will be clueless. They cannot defer to others this important decision, or trust them not to misuse - it is total stupidity.

This control the Government want over us is shown in an article in the Financial Times. They have taken the role of big brother (in the Orwellian sense). More recent in Sunday Times reported MI5s £25 million centre (no doubt costs will double). In my considered opinion and knowledge of what is possible - As more of your life goes over to the Internet, they will listen to your communications, including speech, for key words and phrases. They now have more intrusive powers than any other western democracy. You will have no privacy, they will know absolutely everything about you. From personal private and business emails and sites you visit they get your hopes, fears and aspirations. Captured data on you can be examined retrospectively for analysis, including spending should they suspect you of illegal activity or tax evasion. You may have to account for all cash flow. This will eventually happen to all, as processing power increases, in real-time. They know what buttons to press, what you will respond to. It will be like having a spy following you around all day - you will be completely open to them. Future processing power will enable this real-time monitoring of you. Incidentally it has finally been proved and admitted, the USA are spying on European business with the Echelon project. Good overview here. Railtrack wants billions of pounds off us tax payers. Can you remind me why they went into private ownership? The bosses should be fined for gross incompetence, by having their wages halved from now on (backdated?).

Stock Exchange breakdown: something sounds very fishy to me. You do not set up any program without proper data validation or backup systems. Least of all something this important. Was something 'dodgy' going on?

FSA miscalculation: Do you believe it? Neither do I.

Unemployment at 20 year low: It would not be true if calculated same way. Government figures are nearly always lies.

GM food: It was not government tests that picked up GM pollen in honey. They don't care.

9 to 5 prison: What a joke. No doubt they will make joyriders stand in the corner with a dunce cap. Like electronic tagging, this is just a cost saving exercise - not a deterent or punishment.
